Yveltal and Xerneas Reference

Xerneas gave me so much trouble, but thankfully Yveltal came out nicely enough. A lot of people base it off of a traditional vulture, but I decided to take a different route and use a red bearded vulture, which I LOVE. I'm happy to be done with these two. Next up, Zygarde. ALSO THE SIZES HERE ARE GREATLY DOWNSCALED. YVELTAL IS ACTUALLY TALLER THAN LUGIA.

The two were separate creations from Giratina and Arceus respectively. Xerneas is Arceus' direct son while Yveltal was created by Giratina to help out with the Distortion World. Giratina adored his daughter and realized later on that she felt trapped in the land of the dead. She ended up befriending Arceus' young son and was the only other Pokemon he could get along with. He granted her request and bestowed on her the power to be able to enter and exit their home as she pleased, giving her the chance to live with the world she so loved- as long as she didn't forget about him. She did leave, but never came back to live with her "father", even when she found out the above world was cruel to those from the underworld. Arceus was at first outraged that Giratina would make a creation without his consent, but didn't want banish her for a crime she did not commit. Xerneas did some convincing and Yveltal did some flattering and eventually she stayed, if only to be Xerneas' counterpart when literally no one else would. The two are rarely seen without the other, and her presence has made Arceus forgive Giratina a lot bit, since it's impossible to truly hate her once you get to know her.

    Personality : Yveltal has a blessed heart, but that's not entirely enough. As Giratina's former apprentice and "daughter" she took care of work in the Distortion World and learned to get over the grotesque cruelty of humans that tore her to shreds. She grew to hate humanity but loved all Pokemon, big and small. That was what inspired her to live on the surface with her first friend, Xerneas. Inside her isolation is causing a great deal of depression, but she hides it with a very happy expression. She's extremely approachable and happy to help with any problems, wanting to redeem herself. She knows people judge her because of her roots and that Arceus can never look her in the eyes, but she tries to look past that and build a life for herself. Early on she fell for Xerneas but avoided saying anything because at the time he had fancied a Sawsbuck much prettier than her and also had found a much closer friend in Dialga. She continues to hide her affection, knowing that revealing it will only cause harm to their friendship. Besides for Xerneas, she only has a few other friends, her most dearest being Zygarde. The two get along very well, though inwardly she is upset with Rayquaza for stealing Zygarde's attention from her and leaving Yveltal all by herself.

    Battle Effectiveness : Yveltal, created with the intention of being Xerneas' counterpart, is definitely a more offensive attacker. She and Xerneas have the same stats, but she chooses to take advantage of her strong special attack so that she can take out her opponents early. She relies heavily on Oblivion Wing and Phantom Force, which was a move taught to her by her father Giratina. When that fails, she'll try a few Sucker Punches and hope for the best.

    Special Abilities : She can suck life out of environments and Pokemon just by being near them or stepping on them, which leaves many fearing her. When her tail and plumage glows it signals she's about to absorb the life force and turn into a cocoon to maintain her strength. She can create portals in and out of the Distortion World with ease.

    Personality : As the sole son of Arceus, Xerneas is spoiled, very spoiled. He loves the life of the monarchy and indulges in many things he shouldn't just for the heck of it. As a result he's very close minded and quick to judge. If you're considered lesser than him then he won't bother with you. Appearance wise he preens a lot can charm almost anyone with his looks. Since he has no regard for rules he's already had his fair share of bastard children as well, to the dismay of his father. He cares very little for these legends (of course, with the exception of one) and the children were spur of the moment decision that he doesn't concern himself with much. He will say he's proud of Cobalion for being the son Arceus never had, if only to get the Original One off of his back for breaking the rules. As for Keldeo, he doesn't think his children should be training mortal Pokemon especially since she will merely die off in a few years. He's very fertile and flaunts this fact a lot if only to get a reaction. He's either loved or hated, and he doesn't care which one it is so long as Pokemon know his name and what he's capable of. Yveltal is his only true friend that loves him for him, and even he feels like he doesn't appreciate this fact enough. He won't care if someone insults him, but if they insult Yveltal his fur with definitely be left ruffled.

    Battle Effectiveness : Xerneas is pretty well rounded stat wise, though he clearly has the potential to be a strong physical attacker. However, he chooses to only know one move, Moonblast, which is deadly if he has used Geomancy before his offensive show of force. He works better as someone behind the line that heals and changes the terrain to better suit the fights.

    Special Abilities : Using the tips of his horns Xerneas can bless the land with life, or sap it if he so chooses. When this happens his horns light up a rainbow colour and he grows noticeably taller. The opposite of this is when he has used up the extent of his power and takes on the form of a tree to regenerate, which nurses the land back to life around him. He has the potential to make any creature he comes into contact with immortal. He can also create forests and can signal the coming of spring when blossoms bloom on his antlers.
